The new iMac is a computer designed to fit into your home more like a decoration than a PC. It's on the design front that the new iMac has received its biggest refresh in a decade, with a slew of colors on offer, ranging from the green of our sample to pink, orange and silver. Sticking with the theme of more "budget" type Macs, if it's a desktop PC you're looking for, the iMac (2021, 24-inch) should serve you pretty well. In testing, the battery life was also excellent, with a total of 11 hours of battery life before needing to recharge the MacBook Air.Ĭritical: Max Parker Full review: MacBook Air (M1) applications, especially thanks to its sharp resolution of 2560×1600. as headphone jack.Ĭompared to its predecessor, the screen has been updated to now support the DCI-P3 color gamut, which we've found to deliver a more colorful picture, as well as one that's also still crisp and bright enough. As well as being quiet, we also found the M1 MacBook Air to be a sleek machine, although its slender frame means there's not a whole lot of room in the way of the ports – you also only get a pair of USB-C options. This specific MacBook Air is a fanless machine, which means it should also be very quiet, and we found that even under load the laptop made no noise, which speaks to the quality of the thermal performance of these M1 chips. Even as the most "budget" Mac on our list, it still packs a punch. The main feature here is the M1 chip which we found outperformed the competition at this price point in testing, with speed in basic productivity tasks, as well as rendering 4K HDR video content with multiple apps running backwards. If you're looking for a great value Mac, look no further than the MacBook Air M1.
